Leeds United director of football has suggested that he cannot guarantee the futures of Pontus Jansson or Samu Saiz.

Samu Saiz of Leeds United scores his sides first goal during the Sky Bet Championship match between Bristol City and Leeds United at Ashton Gate on October 21, 2017 in Bristol, England.

Leeds United fans have been left concerned about Victor Orta’s comments about Samu Saiz and Pontus Jansson.

Leeds director of football, Orta, told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he could make no guarantees about the futures of either Saiz or Jansson.

Although the Whites’ head of transfers did confirm that Leeds wanted to keep the pair, he suggested that if Premier League sides come in for either of them, it could complicate matters.

He said: ”We’ve already renewed the contract of Jansson. We are really keen to keep these players in the squad.

Pontus Jansson of Leeds United celebrates after the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road on February 25, 2017 in Leeds, England.

“But, for example, with Chris Wood if the desire is really hard (on leaving) then it’s difficult to manage the squad. If they have the economical desire to play in the Premier League and they’re pushing you it’s difficult.”

Leeds fans are now worried that they could be saying goodbye to another of their key players in the summer.

Leeds have had difficulty retaining their biggest stars over recent years, with their failure to earn promotion proving costly.

The Whites still have a chance of breaking into the top six this campaign, but they will have to finish the season strongly.

Leeds are currently five points outside of the play off spots, with 12 games remaining this term.

Both Saiz and Jansson will be crucial to Leeds’ chances over the rest of the campaign, with the duo set to feature heavily in Paul Heckingbottom’s starting line-up.
