Leeds United supporters will be highly encouraged after reading what Mauricio Pochettino told the Guardian about Marcelo Bielsa back in 2015.

Leeds are said to be considering appointing Bielsa by El Correo, to replace Paul Heckingbottom.

And Tottenham Hotspur boss Pochettino is one of Bielsa’s many admirers in football.

Indeed, back in 2015, Pochettino raved about Leeds’ next potential manager, suggesting he was one of the most talented coaches in the world.

“It’s a pleasure for me if he comes because he is one of the best managers in the world,” Pochettino said when Bielsa was linked with the Swansea City job.

“He is like my father in both ways because he’s 60 years old so he can be my father and he is also like my football father. I know him since I was 14 at Newell’s Old Boys and it’s a great opportunity for him.”

Leeds fans have certainly been enthused by the suggestions that Bielsa could come in.

The Argentinian boss’s innovative tactical strategies have earned him great praise throughout his managerial career.

If Bielsa did take over at Leeds, they could get the added benefit of loaning some of Tottenham’s best young talents, with Pochettino’s relationship with the 62-year-old so strong.

Leeds are yet to comment on the speculation over Heckingbottom’s future, but the 40-year-old’s future at Elland Road looks far from certain.
