Leeds United fell to defeat upon their return to league action with a 2-0 loss away at Cardiff City on Sunday afternoon.

The Whites saw both West Bromwich Albion and Fulham fail to win on Saturday, and were hoping to capitalise by claiming all three points in South Wales.

However, Leeds turned in a torrid display. Kalvin Phillips uncharacteristically gave the ball away in his own half, allowing Junior Hoilett to smash Cardiff in front.

Leeds did go close; Patrick Bamford blocked Jack Harrison’s goal-bound shot in a moment of real frustration, whilst Alex Smithies pulled off a great save to deny Tyler Roberts.

Substitute Robert Glatzel then sealed Leeds’ fate, securing a 2-0 win for the Bluebirds. Leeds host Fulham in a crucial game next weekend, and fans want changes.

Bamford struggled throughout once again, with his block on Harrison’s shot just the tip of the iceberg. With Jean-Kevin Augustin seemingly not fully fit, Whites supporters want another solution.

Fans took to Twitter to urge Marcelo Bielsa to use Roberts up front instead of Bamford, using Pablo Hernandez in the creative midfield role that Roberts occupied on Sunday.

The 21-year-old bagged a brace against Hull City back in February whilst playing as a striker, and Leeds fans feel that it’s ‘surely’ time for Roberts to be given a go in place of Bamford.
