Should Leeds United make a move for Watford striker Troy Deeney in the January transfer window?
Leeds United fans want the club to sign Troy Deeney from Watford in the January transfer window, according to posts on social networking site Twitter.
Deeney has been on the books of Watford since 2010 and has a contract with the Hornets until June 2021, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
The 29-year-old is a senior figure in the current Watford team and started 31 Premier League matches last season, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists in the process.
So far this season, the striker has started only three Premier League matches for the Hornets, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process.
Deeney is a very good striker who is physical, works hard and knows the Championship well, and some Leeds fans want him signed up in January.
Given Deeney’s long association with Watford, it is going to be hard for any club to convince him to leave Vicarage Road.
However, as the following post on Twitter suggests, the striker’s father was a Leeds fan, and the former Walsall star will know all about the Elland Road outfit.
While Leeds may not be able to afford Deeney on a permanent contract or convince him that his long-term future lies at Elland Road, they could try to land him on loan in January until the end of the season in their quest to finish in the top six of the Championship, given that they need a striker and the 29-year-old is not guaranteed a place in the Watford starting lineup.
