Leeds United fans on Twitter have expressed their desire to see the club compete for the signing of Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa.

Aston Villa have been heavily linked with the out-of-favour Argentine striker and The Telegraph reported earlier this month that Steve Bruce has made him his top target.

The 31-year-old is expected to leave Leicester this month after managing just 19 minutes of Premier League football under Claude Puel this season and although Leeds need a centre-forward, there hasn’t been much talk of the West Yorkshire side entering the race.

However, fans of the Elland Road want to see the former Brighton & Hove Albion hitman – who managed 23 Championship goals in 51 starts for the Seagulls – signed by United.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga of Leeds United warms up prior to The Emirates FA Cup Third Round match between Newport County and Leeds United at Rodney Parade on January 7, 2018 in Newport, Wales.

If money was no object then surely Ulloa would be a cracking signing for Leeds, but there are, unfortunately, financial implications to consider and they don’t indicate that a move is plausible at the moment.

Even on a loan, the Whites would have to pay his £50,000-a-week salary (Silly Season), having only signed a new deal back in August.

Leeds are already paying a chunk of Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s £56k-a-week deal at Hamburg and will continue to do so until at least his season-long loan expires in the summer, so unless the wage bill is reduced this month, then they probably can’t realistically compete with the Villans.
