Plenty of Leeds United fans on Twitter have called on the club to sign Brentford striker Lasse Vibe before Wednesday’s deadline.

At the moment it appears as if Leeds will not add a well-known striker to the ranks before the transfer window closes, leaving Thomas Christiansen with Pierre-Michel Lasogga, Kemar Roofe and injured Caleb Ekuban.

Vibe is out of contract at Griffin Park this summer and could therefore be available for a cut-price fee this week, though Sky Sports reported on Saturday that the 30-year-old could be heading for Chinese side Yanbian FC.

The Denmark international, valued at £2.5 million according to Transfermarkt, is bang in form and has netted seven goals in his last eight Championship games.

More importantly, Vibe, who has 36 Championship goals in total, knows a thing or two about England’s second tier and could therefore be a big help to promotion-chasing Leeds, who are five points adrift of the top six with a game in hand.

And quite a few fans of the Elland Road side have urged their club to try their luck and bring him to West Yorkshire.

Leeds could certainly do with someone like Vibe. Lasogga and Roofe have their moments, but neither are all that consistent, while Ekuban’s first season in England has been dogged by injury.

Christiansen’s side do still have an outside chance of promotion, but it very much depends on their form during the second half of the campaign and United would be a better side with Vibe than without him, simply put.

But if there is interest from China then the Brentford star might well be tempted to take the big pay day and call time on his three-year stint in English football.
