Leeds United made an enquiry for Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle during the summer transfer window.
According to the Daily Star, Newcastle United rejected £12 million for Dwight Gayle from Fulham in the summer transfer window – and that suggests Leeds United never really stood a chance of signing the forward.
Leeds made an enquiry for Gayle in the summer, according to the Shields Gazette, and their interest captured supporters’ imaginations at Elland Road.
However, Newcastle deemed Gayle to be worth more than £12 million only two months ago – and that means that the 26-year-old seems to be an unrealistic signing for Leeds.
HITC have ran reports where Leeds fans have been urging the club to go for Gayle. But, unless Thomas Christiansen is given a huge amount of money to spend, no deal appears to be possible.
Newcastle are considering offloading Gayle in January, the Daily Star report, but Leeds looks to be a highly unlikely destination for the former Crystal Palace and Peterborough man.
