Leeds United fans are pushing for Pierre-Michel Lasogga to sign permanently.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga of Leeds United celebrates after scoring during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Millwall at Elland Road on January 20, 2018 in Leeds, England.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga scored the first goal of the Paul Heckingbottom era at Leeds United and continues to impress the club’s supporters.

The German is on loan from Hamburg and is currently the club’s first choice centre-forward.

He has scored three goals in his last four games despite Leeds’ poor form, and his efforts have been particularly noticeable given the absence of chief creator Samu Saiz.

Lasogga’s latest goal against Sheffield United gave the team a real spark and he is a reason for fans to feel positive right now amid a poor run of results.

So much so that since the game, fans have begun a movement on Twitter to get the club to sign him up, using the #SignLasogga hashtag, even tagging in club owner Andrea Radrizzani.

Lasogga has scored eight goals in 19 games for Leeds, 14 of which have come as a starter.

The German also has three assists, and has shaken off a spell of poor form which affected his performances in December.

Lasogga was non-committal when quizzed about his future last week.

He told German publication Sportbuzzer: “I want to make it into the play-offs with Leeds – this club belongs in the Premier League. I’m not worried about that yet. Finally, I have one more year contract in Hamburg and I wish HSV to stay in the Bundesliga.”

Lasogga might simply be waiting for a sign from Leeds that he should commit, and being selected to start by new manager Paul Heckingbottom is a promising start.

This Leeds team has so many areas to improve and losing Lasogga would be a backward step at this point.

The Hamburg loanee is far from perfect, but with better service, he could score a lot more goals and Leeds need to work out how to make that happen.
