Leeds United fans have given a thumbs down to the club’s attempts to shift more season tickets for 2018/19.
A renewal deadline for season ticket holders will pass this Friday, meaning those who do not sign up before it will not qualify for discounts.
Leeds yesterday dispatched first team players Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas to cold call fans to remind them if they had not already signed up.
It was an interesting way to drum up interest, but considering the form the club have been in, the responses were not so favourable.
Even beforehand, Liam Cooper was the subject of barracking from fans, after his comments at the weekend about enjoying being club captain drew negative responses, with supporters disappointed with his performances.
So perhaps it was not a surprise that Leeds’ stunt to try and shift a few more tickets was not particularly well received online when the club posted the video.
A turnaround in form between now and the end of the season will help shift some tickets, and that’s what fans really want to see.
Not gimmicks, or PR stunts, but positive performances on the pitch which give hope that the club can compete for promotion next season.
In 2018 Leeds have only won one game, the worst record of any team in the Championship.
Promises of a new dawn are one thing, but supporters want to see some actual reason to start believing, which is more than just words.
