Wolves were the better side over the course of the 90 minutes, and they were also helped by the dismissal of Ronaldo Vieira.
The Leeds midfielder was sent off on the hour mark for two bookable offences, and that certainly put the home team in the driving seat.
Wolves manager Nuno has admitted that dismissal of Vieira was the turning point in the match, and has also stated that winning against the Whites was harder than it looked.
“I think to be honest, it was a good performance but the result doesn’t say how hard the game was – it was a tough game,” Nuno told Wolves’ official website.
“We knew what we were gong to find in Leeds – they are a team with two lines of four and we had to have patience but at the same time control their counter attack,” added Nuno. “The first half specifically was very good.”
“We know how hard it is to play with one man less and Leeds played with one man less,” added Nuno about the red card. “It was a determining moment but it was fair and I think it was a good decision from the referee.”
The defeat to Wolves must have been hugely disappointing for the Leeds fans, but they can take heart from Nuno’s comments.
The Wolves manager’s comments make it clear that the Whites gave them a run for their money, and the Leeds fans will hope that in the coming weeks the team can close matches instead of giving the opposition just a hard time.
