With 48 hours to go before the transfer window closes, Leeds United have been slow in adding new faces.

Andrea Radrizzani secured a 50 per cent stake in Leeds United earlier this month after weeks of speculation over his involvement.

Yet if fans were expecting a spending spree to help the club capitalise on their lofty play-off position, they were wrong, it simply hasn’t happened.

There is narrowly under two days to go before the transfer window closes, and the Whites have been slow in strengthening their squad – if anything they have weakened it by selling Alex Mowatt.

On Sunday, Leeds suffered a surprise defeat to Sutton United in the FA Cup, although looking at the team selection it was less of a shock.

The lack of depth in the squad was evident, with not a single starter aged over 25. Youth can be a positive, but it was not to be in their 1-0 defeat.

The loss must leave head coach Garry Monk feeling nervous as to whether the club will get any of their deals over the line, and the board are under pressure. Fortunately they might have got the message.

Last night Leeds United fans sent urgent and concerned messages to co-owner Radrizzani via Twitter letting him know their thoughts.

Within hours, Spanish newspaper AS reported that Leeds have clinched a deal for Spanish prospect Alfonso Pedraza – a loanee from Villarreal, although the key issue of adding a striker remains a gap they need to fill.

Radrizzani has held a savvy social media presence throughout his links with Leeds, and should be well aware of the criticism he was hearing.

The question is now whether it has been left too late for the Whites to act, or if they can still turn it around and salvage their transfer window, and consign the Sutton defeat to a memory quickly forgotten.
