As announced on the Whites’ official website, the 20-year-old central defender has put pen to paper on a deal that will run until the summer of 2020.

The youngster joined Leeds from Limerick in 2017, and after impressive for the Under-23 side, the centre-back made his debut for the senior team against Sunderland in April 2018 before playing against Preston North End, Aston Villa and Barnsley.
Leeds fans have responded to O’Connor’s message on Twitter, and seem pleased that the club have tied him down to a long-term contract.

Given the competition for places in the first team and his tender age, it is hard to see O’Connor play week in and week out for Leeds next season.
Perhaps it would be best if the 20-year-old centre-back goes out on to another Championship club or to a team in League One.
