Leeds United are among the clubs being credited with an interest in the Middlesbrough defender.

Leeds fans show their support prior to the Sky Bet Championship Play-off semi final second leg match between Leeds United and Derby County at Elland Road on May 15, 2019 in Leeds, England.

Leeds United fans are reacting to reports linking their side with the Middlesbrough defender, Daniel Ayala.

According to Teamtalk, Leeds are among the clubs showing an interest in Ayala, along with Fulham and Stoke.

The website claims Middlesbrough are ready to cash in on their long-serving centre-back in January, knowing they will not be able to match the terms of his current contract, which expires next summer.

And it adds that Fulham look the most likely beneficiaries, but also notes that the Leeds director of football, Victor Orta, is a fan of Ayala, with whom he worked at Boro.

Ayala was also in Sevilla’s youth system when Orta was starting out at the Spanish side.

But what are those of a Leeds persuasion saying about the rumour on Twitter?

Ayala is a cheat, pure and simple, it’s at least 50% of his game, he gets away with a lot of it because he’s good at it. I would not want such a cheating **** at Leeds.

Ayala was signed by Liverpool in 2007 and remained in English football with Hull, Derby, Norwich and Nottingham Forest before joining Middlesbrough.

In his six years at Boro, the 29-year-old has been promoted to the Premier League once and won PFA Team of the Year and Player of the Year awards.

Leeds fans – what would you make of Ayala joining your side?
