Leeds United slipped to a first home league defeat of the season on Monday night as they lost 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road.

The Whites impressed with a 1-1 draw against Manchester City before the international break, but saw Liam Cooper pick up an injury with Scotland – and he pulled out in the warm-up last night in an early blow for Marcelo Bielsa’s men.

Still, Leeds did all the pressing in the first half, but just couldn’t quite find the opening goal, with Patrick Bamford’s headed effort ruled out for offside.

Leeds were made to pay for not turning pressure into goals, as Raul Jimenez scored with the winner with a deflected strike flying into the net via Kalvin Phillips.

Leeds couldn’t find an equaliser, meaning Wolves have joined Liverpool in being the only side to beat the Whites this season – and again it came by just one goal.

In search of a late leveller, Bielsa through on substitute Raphinha for his Leeds United debut, having completed a big-money move from Rennes on deadline day earlier this month.

The Brazilian came on for Jack Harrison down the left flank, and whilst he only played around 10 minutes, Leeds fans saw enough to praise him on Twitter.

Some called him ‘very exciting’ and ‘sharp’, even adding that he looks ‘so good’, ‘quality’, ‘impressive’ and ‘could be deadly’ as the speedy wide man earned fans very quickly.
