Leeds United fans have responded to Liverpool midfielder James Milner’s comments that he is open to moving back to Elland Road in the future.

Milner, who can operate as a midfielder, winger or full-back, suggested in his new book, ‘Ask A Footballer: My Guide to Kicking a Ball About’ that he could eventually come back to Leeds.

The Englishman started his professional club football career at the Whites and played for West Yorkshire outfit until 2004.

Milner wrote in ‘Ask A Footballer: My Guide to Kicking a Ball About’, as reported by The Express: “There would be so many things to weigh up – not just for myself or my family, but for Leeds.

“If I was being released by another club, would they want me? It would be pointless for them and for me if I wasn’t needed at the time and it was just some kind of nostalgia trip.

“You can probably tell from what I’m saying that I love the club, but I also love playing for Liverpool and I want to play at the highest level for as long as I can.

“If my time at Liverpool came to an end and I was going to go somewhere else and Leeds were one of the clubs that were interested in me, then that would be a very exciting option for all the reasons I mention.”

Leeds fans have responded to Milner’s desire to return to Elland Road, and below are some of the best comments on Twitter.

Leeds United return in the future

Milner is one of the most hard-working and consistent players in the Premier League, and the Englishman would be a very good signing for Leeds.

True, the former Newcastle United and Aston Villa star is 33 years of age, but he is very fit and can play at the very top level for two or three more years at least.
