Leeds United youngster Hugo Diaz starred in under-23 win.

Hugo Diaz continued his outstanding form for Leeds United’s under-23s last night.
Diaz played in a defensive midfield role, protecting centre-backs Aapo Halme and Pascal Struijk.
It paid off with Leeds winning 3-1 against Newcastle United, to qualify for the knockout stages of the Premier League Cup.
Ryan Edmondson (2), and Struijk scored Leeds’ goals.
Former Deportivo La Coruna talent Diaz arrived at Leeds as a centre-back in 2017 and in recent weeks has really shone in a midfield role.
It has led some fans to suggest that he is being groomed as a stand in for Kalvin Phillips in the first team.
His leadership skills have been evident on and off the pitch.

Ryan Edmondson’s brace was well timed with Leeds’ first team missing top scorer Kemar Roofe.
Diaz’s display was just as pleasing, and really caught the eye.
