According to Noticias de Gipuzkoa, Leeds United are close to completing the signing of Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente.

It’s claimed that Leeds are nearing a deal worth around €20million (£18.3million), with talks now at an advanced stage.

Leeds had targeted Dinamo Zagreb’s Josko Gvardiol, but have now instead gone for Llorente, after the Croatian teenager picked RB Leipzig.

Llorente, 27, is a Spanish international with five caps to his name, and he is a proven La Liga performer with 77 appearances for Sociedad to his name.

Formerly of Real Madrid, Llorente now looks set to make the move to Elland Road, and Leeds fans have been reacting to the news.

Many seem pretty excited by the suggestion of Llorente arriving in West Yorkshire, believing that he immediately becomes Leeds’ first-choice centre back.

Others branded him a ‘smart’, ‘nice’ and ‘very good’ signing, and he could now come and help Leeds’ defence after conceding seven goals in two games.

Some even think that this hints towards Marcelo Bielsa changing his tactics, and moving to a 3-3-1-3 system, deploying Liam Cooper, Robin Koch and Llorente as his back three.
