Caleb Ekuban hasn’t played for Leeds United for nearly two months.
Thomas Christiansen revealed to Leeds United’s press conference, via Radio Yorkshire, on Monday that Caleb Ekuban is within two weeks of returning to first-team action.
Two similar injuries have forced the 23-year-old to endure a stop-start beginning to life as a Leeds player following his £500,000 move (Yorkshire Evening Post) from Chievo Verona last summer.
The Italian striker returned from injury to make five Championship appearances between the end of November and early December, but hasn’t played since due to a fractured foot.
Despite not scoring in any of those games before Christmas, Ekuban enhanced his reputation with a number of full-blooded and energetic displays which endeared him to the United faithful.
And Leeds fans have reacted well to Christiansen’s update.
Ekuban has scored once from seven games in all competitions this season – a strike in the 4-1 League Cup win over Port Vale back in August.
It’s not a brilliant record, but there is clearly talent there and once he gets a run of games then he could, in theory, be a big player for Christiansen.
