Leeds United fans have had many opportunities to check up on Alex Mowatt after the midfielder’s Elland Road exit 14 months ago. However, March’s international break saw Leagues One and Two take centre stage in terms of live-screened domestic football, this weekend just passed.
So Mowatt was the focus of many Whites fans’ attentions as Oxford United side travelled to Portsmouth in the third tier on Sunday. And the 23-year-old Leeds academy product certainly caught the eye – and perhaps some of Nathan Thompson’s too – after missing a penalty and proceeding to strike the Pompey defender, who had goaded him for doing so.

Mowatt was initially sold to current Leeds manager Paul Heckingbottom at Barnsley, before being loaned to former Whites assistant Pep Clotet only six months later.
The Doncaster native has been a regular with the U’s, for whom he has scored three goals and made another in 29 appearances this season.
