Leeds United fans have been left seriously concerned after Yosuke Ideguchi was left out of the latest Japan squad.
Ideguchi looked set to go to the World Cup prior to his move to Leeds, but Japan’s latest squad has put the 21-year-old’s hopes of going to Russia in doubt.
Ideguchi moved to Leeds in the January transfer window, after impressing for Gamba Osaka in the J League.
The midfielder was swiftly loaned out to Cultural Leonesa in Spain, as Leeds aimed to get the youngster used to playing in Europe, but that move has been nothing short of a disaster.
Ideguchi has constantly been left out of Leonesa’s squads, and has barely played for his loan club.
The Japanese international has now fallen out of favour at both club and international level.
And Leeds fans are seriously concerned that they have ruined Ideguchi’s development already.
Ideguchi is now running out of time to force his way into Leonesa’s squad and back into Japan’s thinking before the World Cup begins.
Leeds, meanwhile, are preparing for a Championship match against Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.
