Yosuke Ideguchi’s spell at Leeds United is over.

After a torn ACL, two loan spells, a missed World Cup and no doubt shattered confidence, Yosuke Ideguchi’s disastrous spell at Leeds United is over.

Gamba Osaka proudly confirmed Ideguchi’s move back to the club.

Leeds signed Ideguchi in January 2018, hoping he would become the club’s first Japanese star.

It seemed like a worthwhile gamble, a shrewd move to sign a player who was set to shine at World Cup 2018.

But bad luck and questionable decisions saw Ideguchi miss out on the tournament entirely.

This was due to Leeds’ decision to loan him out to Cultural Leonesa in Spain, despite him getting a work permit.

Yosuke Ideguchi of Japan looks on during the international friendly match between Brazil and Japan at Stade Pierre-Mauroy on November 10, 2017 in Lille, France.

His failure to settle there saw Japan decide against picking him. Marcelo Bielsa took a look at him last summer, before deciding to loan him to Greuther Furth.

His spell in Germany saw him sustain a serious knee in jury after just one month.

Leaving now is for the best, its just a shame it didn’t work out.

Here is a look at how Leeds fans reacted to the move…
