Thomas Christiansen has replaced Garry Monk as Leeds United’s chosen one.

As you’d probably expect, Leeds United appointing Thomas Christiansen as their new manager has elicited quite a divided response in the Twittersphere.
From those proclaiming that a ‘name’ guarantees nothing to plentiful memes of Connor McGregor enquiring via expletives about the identity of the man in question, the 44-year-old tactician is certainly a bold choice from new Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani.
After all, while almost every available tactician on the continent has been linked with the vacant Elland Road post since Garry Monk resigned three weeks ago, Christiansen has been strangely absent from the gossip columns.
Thomas Christiansen only started managing in 2014
However, according to the Daily Mail, Radrizzani was so blown away by the Danish-born former Spanish international when meeting him in Madrid last week that he immediately called off his search for Monk’s successor.
Clearly, Christiansen is no Dave Hockaday 2.0. But that does not stop fans worrying that Darko Milanic, who lasted just six games under Massimo Cellino, is a more accurate comparison.
Christiansen may have won the Cypriot top flight title last season before being given the boot following a cup final defeat to former club AEK Larnaca but, like Milanic, he is completely untested in a major European league.
Like Darko Milanic, Christiansen is a left-field appointment
Therefore, the spotlight will be shining intently upon a man who honed his trade under Johan Cryuff during his days as a player at Barcelona.
