Leeds United fans react to Sam Dalby signing.
Leeds United have added another talented name to their squad, Leyton Orient forward Sam Dalby.
The youngster has joined from non-league side Leyton Orient, and will go into Leeds’ under-23 squad.
Leeds fans had been clamouring for a new striker, and Dalby’s arrival is not quite what they had in mind, but he is a player with a lot of potential for the future.
There is really strong competition in the youth ranks at Leeds up front, with Malik Wilks, Eoghan Stokes, Oliver Sarkic and even Jay-Roy Grot in the mix.
Beyond that are Kun Temenuzkhov, Adrian Balboa and recent signing from York City, Ryan Edmondson.
It could well be that one or two of these players start going out on loan during the upcoming 18 months, and the hope has to be that the competition will lead to first team opportunities.
The sheer volume of strikers in the Leeds academy is slightly perplexing although this does not mean Dalby’s arrival is illogical, especially if he turns out to be the best of the bunch.
