Leeds United were said to want Swansea City defender Kyle Bartley prior to Marcelo Bielsa’s arrival.

Leeds United fans are fearful that Marcelo Bielsa will not want to sign Kyle Bartley this summer.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported how Bartley was a target of Leeds early on in the transfer window.

However, Bielsa has demanded full control of transfers, after taking charge at Elland Road.

And there are now concerns from Leeds fans that £6 million-rated Bartley (TeamTalk) will not be on their radar anymore.

Bielsa has tended to operate with full-backs at centre-back at his previous clubs, which could mean that Bartley is not a player who fits into his system.

Bartley is still very popular at Leeds, after spending a season on loan there during the 2016/17 campaign, and there were hopes he would return this summer.

But Bartley is a no thrills defender, who is renowned for being solid rather than flamboyant.

And given Bielsa’s desire for players who are comfortable in possession, it may be that Leeds look elsewhere for defensive additions now.
