That was the assessment of then Derby manager Steve McClaren afterwards [Yorkshire Evening Post], who went on to predict a ‘bright future’ for the teenage midfielder.

Fast forward to Wednesday, however – when Leeds were held to a 2-2 draw at Pride Park – and it’s a somewhat different story in the eyes of many Whites supporters.
Vieira, who has had a number of fitness problems since that 2017 win against the Rams, has been in and out of the side of late.
And Wednesday’s trip to Derby was indeed his first outing of Paul Heckingbottom’s reign as manager, having last appeared in the 4-1 defeat against Cardiff City three games ago.
