Leeds fans were dazzled by Oriol Rey’s latest display.

Leeds United talent Oriol Rey continued his impressive form for club’s under-23 side on Monday night as he inspired a victory over Ipswich.

Striker Sam Dalby stole the show with his brace but Rey’s midfield performance had fans purring.

Rey signed from Barcelona in the summer, where he had featured for their academy as a centre-back,

After beginning the season for Leeds in the same position, he has begun to shine in a midfield role and was impressive late in 2017.

His form in January prompted us to ask if he could solve the club’s first team problems in midfield, but Rey is still waiting for an opportunity.

The 20-year-old has done enough in his recent performances to show that he warrants another look, considering the poor displays from first team midfielders.

Leeds have won just one first team game this season, while the under-23s are unbeaten in six and have won three in a row.

At the very least, Rey has what the first team players don’t and that’s confidence – invaluable if Leeds are to turn their prospects around.

Considering Leeds have little beyond pride to play for this season at this point, they need to try and find out what they have with Rey, before signing more midfielders and blocking his path next season.

Leeds fans already believe he could be an upgrade on what they have…
