Leeds United’s transfer hopes for 2018/19 were given a much needed boost this week by reports striker Oli McBurnie is keen on a switch to the club.

McBurnie has been scoring for fun on loan at Barnsley and the Scottish Sun report he is hoping to sign for Leeds.

The young striker was born in Leeds and his career is beginning to really take off.

He earned a Scotland international call up last month due to his impressive form at Barnsley, where he was signed on loan by current Leeds boss Paul Heckingbottom.

Heckingbottom’s Leeds take on Barnsley this weekend, and both manager and player will have a point to prove.

It is in Leeds’ interests to keep McBurnie quiet, and hope they can keep his price tag down in the process.

While he has just one year left on his contract, Swansea would be selling begrudgingly, and may seek to initiate a bidding war, which Leeds will not want.

Leeds fans have not had much to smile about in 2018 but the prospect of signing McBurnie is a tantalising one which would kickstart their summer.
