When Mateusz Klich signed for Leeds back in June he did not expect his first Championship start would only come in late September.

He started last night against Cardiff City, and unfortunately it was not worth the wait.

Klich had looked decent in the Carabao Cup win over Burnley, but against Cardiff last night he was not up to scratch.

The Poland international is still finding his feet in English football and it was clearly a mistake to select him ahead of Eunan O’Kane in central midfield.

Klich slipped in possession for Cardiff to score their first goal, and he rarely looked like posing any sort of threat offensively.

It is far too early to write him off, but Klich needs to step his game up if he is to earn a regular place in the Leeds starting line-up.

He was taken off midway through the second half for teenager Ronaldo Vieira.

Last night was a set back for him, and a match from which he will have to learn fast, but it seems likely he will be left on the bench this weekend when Leeds visit rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

Here is a look at how Leeds fans reacted on Twitter to his performance…
