Leeds United are sending Mallik Wilks out on loan.

Leeds United striker Mallik Wilks is poised to leave the club on loan for the rest of the season.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported that Wilks will sign with Grimsby, who had beaten competition from Carlisle for his signature.

Wilks had spent the first part of the season on loan at Accrington Stanley, scoring three first team goals, his first in competitive football.

The teenage striker made his debut for Leeds last year in the FA Cup but had not had a chance since, and Leeds fans had hoped he could be considered for selection by Thomas Christiansen.

A star striker has been a concern for Leeds fans all season after selling Chris Wood, with both Kemar Roofe and Pierre-Michel Lasogga excellent one moment, and invisible the next, with inconsistency plaguing the team.

Caleb Ekuban has more injuries than goals, and Wilks was a useful option for Leeds to have available – unless another striker is coming in.

Leeds supporters are hopeful that a late deal can be struck for a striker, especially with Lasogga’s loan agreement set to expire in June, a long term solution is need as well as an extra forward right now.
