Leeds United fans are excited about links with Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Forshaw.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claim that Leeds are prepared to pay £2.5 million for Forshaw, with the transfer edging closer.

Leeds have identified Forshaw as a player who could improve their first-team squad.

And Whites fans are eager for the 26-year-old to be brought to Elland Road.

Leeds have already been active in the January transfer window, but they are yet to bring in any player of proven Championship quality.

Thomas Christiansen’s side have regularly looked abroad for transfers since Victor Orta came in, but Forshaw is a player who the Leeds crowd will know well.

Adam Forshaw of Middlesborough controls the ball during the Premier League match between Middlesbrough and Burnley at Riverside Stadium on April 8, 2017 in Middlesbrough, England.

Forshaw has previously shown his quality in the second tier during spells with both Middlesbrough and Brentford.

The central midfielder has only played 11 times for Boro this term though, and there is a feeling that he will not fit in under new manager Tony Pulis.

If Forshaw is to move to Leeds he will be in competition with the likes of Eunan O’Kane, Kalvin Phillips and Ronaldo Vieira for a first-team place.
