Roofe suggested that Leeds’ players needed to continue trying this season, as they need to prove themselves for next term.
The £3 million signing said: “At the end of the day we’ve got to prove ourselves for next season.”
Leeds supporters have been angered by the comments, and have claimed that more focus should have been put on this campaign.
The Whites have been awful of late, and many Leeds fans feel that the squad have simply proven that they are not good enough over recent weeks.
Paul Heckingbottom has won just two matches since taking over from Thomas Christiansen at Leeds, with concerns rising over the Yorkshire side’s form.
Leeds have dropped from the outside of the play offs right down to 14th place in the Championship table.
The Whites have a tough test this evening too, when they take on Aston Villa.
