Kalvin Phillips was one of Leeds’ heroes at Birmingham City on Friday night after making a strong impact on his return to the team.

Last night against Fulham he became a villain, picking up an ill timed red card.

Phillips recorded his second booking of the night in the 89th minute at Craven Cottage, with Leeds 1-0 up.

Tom Cairney went on to hit an impressive equaliser five minutes into injury time, with Leeds spending the final few minutes desperately trying to hold out.

A draw was not a terrible result for Leeds considering Fulham’s recent strong form, but the manner of the late goal conceded meant the draw felt more like a loss.

It was Phillips’ second red card of the season, following up a sending off against Brighton in a defeat.

The breakout former academy midfielder is certainly not afraid to put in a tackle and get stuck in, it is a key part of his game, but he may need to learn to choose his moments a little better.

His misfortune did not help Leeds at a critical stage of the game, and the Whites will have to hope it is not ultimately too costly.

Fans were split on his red card, with some defending him and others blaming him for his ill discipline…
