Leeds United’s search for a new manager continues – and The Mirror claim that they are interested in potentially offering Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

The Whites enjoyed a strong season under Garry Monk, finishing seventh in the Championship in his first campaign in charge – and that proved to be his only season in charge.

Monk handed in his resignation last month, leaving owner Andrea Radrizzani to make his first managerial appointment since taking the reigns in May.

A host of names have been linked with the Elland Road job since Monk’s departure, and The Mirror now claim that Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is a new name in the frame for the Whites.

Hasselbaink, 45, made 87 appearances for Leeds as a player having joined from Boavista in 1997, scoring 42 goals before he left under acrimonious circumstances to join Atletico Madrid in 1999.

The Dutch international went onto enjoy a fine career with Chelsea, but has since turned his hand to management, excelling with Burton Albion where he had a 61% win rate, but then struggling at QPR.

Sacked in November 2016, Hasselbaink is out of work right now, and many Leeds fans took to Twitter to suggest that they don’t want him back at Elland Road, even messaging owner Radrizzani to tell him how unwelcome Hasselbaink would be.

Others think that Hasselbaink’s work on a tight budget at Burton Albion is impressive, and his links to the club are seen as a positive by some fans rather than focusing on the way he left the club 18 years ago.
