Leeds United were on the end of a controversial call by the referee as they suffered a damaging defeat to Millwall on Saturday afternoon in the Championship.
Some Leeds United supporters have vented their anger towards Andrea Radrizzani’s recent message after Marcelo Bielsa’s side were beaten at Millwall on Saturday.
In a controversial game, stand-in centre-back Gaetano Berardi was shown a red card after 14 minutes for an alleged foul in the penalty area – the home team converted then doubled their lead just before the break.
Leeds would pull one back straight after the restart but Millwall held their own against Bielsa’s 10-men, who no doubt would have been annoyed with the officiating on the day.
This was the message Leeds owner Radrizzani sent about the officials as he believes that his team are losing points because of poor decision-making by those in charge in the middle.
Whilst Leeds fans understood what their owner was saying, they were unhappy with the business the club did over the summer which has put them in this situation.
Some feel that a player like Berardi shouldn’t be back-up to first-choice centre-back duo Liam Cooper and Ben White, with fans annoyed at the decision not to properly replace some of Leeds’ best players over the summer.
Pontus Jansson and Kemar Roofe were Leeds’ two biggest sales and even when they were at the club, it was argued that Leeds needed more legs to cover and challenge those players.
But when Roofe left for Belgium to sign for Anderlecht, they replaced him with Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah, whilst Jansson’s surprise departure to Brentford resulted in Brighton loanee White becoming Cooper’s new partner.
Whilst both have settled in well, there are some Leeds fans who are hoping that the lack of depth at the club does not cost them again.
Some are even calling for the club to do some business when the January transfer window re-opens because what they do and don’t decide could be crucial to their chances of earning promotion.
