Sunderland are reportedly keen on signing the Leeds United goalkeeper.

According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United goalkeeper Andy Lonergan is wanted by Sunderland.
The 34-year-old signed on for a second spell at Leeds in the summer after leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers on a Bosman.
But it hasn’t been a successful return to West Yorkshire and Lonergan gifted the number one shirt back to Felix Wiedwald in November, having been Thomas Christiansen’s first-choice keeper for less than a month.

Sunderland have been chopping and changing goalkeepers for a lot of the season, with Jason Steele and Robbin Ruiter clearly not impressing following their summer arrivals under Simon Grayson, who’s since been sacked.
But it would seem like current Sunderland boss Chris Coleman is a fan of the Leeds fringe player, and fans of the Elland Road club won’t be shedding any tears if he leaves United this month.

Lonergan’s highlight came in the League Cup win over Burnley when he made some terrific saves and forced Christiansen to seriously consider giving him Championship games, with Wiedwald struggling at the time.
But the former Wolves man never built on that performance at Turf Moor and suffice to say it’s been a failed second spell at Leeds, if it ends over the next week.
