According to Calcio Mercato, former Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino is weighing up a bid for Serie A side Genoa.

The controversial Italian owner sold his remaining stake in Leeds to compatriot Andrea Radrizzani last month.

The 60-year-old was largely despised by the Whites’ fanbase following a tumultuous three-year reign as the club’s owner, hiring seven different managers in that time.

But, according to Calcio Mercato, Cellino is eyeing up a swift return to football as the trigger-happy figure looks into buying Genoa.

The report suggests that the former Leeds supremo will meet with officials from the top-flight club on Monday, when he will request to take a look at their finances to gauge whether the in-debt side are worth taking over.
