Leeds United fans are reacting to confirmation that one of their rumoured January transfer targets has had his contract extended.

Callum O’Dowda’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of this campaign, but contained a 12-month option in the Robins’ favour.

It means that if Leeds do intend to sign the Irishman – who according to both Sky Sports and the Yorkshire Evening Postis being eyed by the Whites as an alternative to the Swansea City wide man, Daniel James – they may be required to pay a sum closer to his true valuation in order to do so this month.

And it is likely to see O’Dowda remain at Ashton Gate until the summer at least, when that figure could plummet as he re-enters the final year of his updated contract.

Of course, Bristol City could yet reach a new agreement with the 23-year-old – although several of a Leeds persuasion do not believe that to be the player’s intention.

This is what they’re saying on Twitter…

Bristol City were forced to sell three of their star players – the historic Leeds targets, Aden Flint and Joe Bryan, along with Bobby Reid – after allowing them to enter the final year of their deals last summer.
