Leeds United supporters have expressed their hope that Adam Clayton could leave Middlesbrough and head back to Elland Road next month.
Clayton’s future has been a hot topic after he was omitted from Boro’s first team by Garry Monk, who has since been fired by the club.
The midfielder was not included in the squad yesterday as Middlesbrough beat Bolton 2-0, and new boss Tony Pulis could have an early decision to make on his future.
Clayton recently revealed on Twitter he has ‘moved house’, creating further speculation over his future.
The 28-year-old made 13 starts for Boro under Garry Monk, but the last of these came back on November 25 and he has not played a single minute since.
Clayton played for Leeds between 2010 and 2012 and Whites fans are hopeful that Clayton could potentially head back to Elland Road this January, despite their own central midfield options.
New Boro boss Tony Pulis could scotch suggestions immediately by making Clayton a key player for his promotion chasing side, but if the midfielder is keen on an exit, then selling him could be a quick way to free up more funds.
Leeds could make space in their squad by letting Mateusz Klich leave, who has failed to make an impression since signing in the summer from Dutch side FC Twente.
