Leeds United are set to meet Bristol City on the opening day of the new campaign.

Lee Johnson, manager of Bristol City looks on before the Sky Bet Championship match between Fulham and Bristol City at Craven Cottage on October 31, 2017 in London, England.

Leeds United fans are less than impressed with Bristol City boss Lee Johnson’s comments about them in the Bristol Post.

Leeds are set to take on Bristol City on the opening day of the new Championship season, and the war of words has already begun.

Johnson jokingly took a dig at Leeds over ‘spy-gate’, which affected Marcelo Bielsa’s team last season.

“Me and Jamie (McAllister, assistant coach) have just rented out a two-bedroom flat overlooking Leeds’ training ground so we can get a good old view of their training,” he joked.

The Bristol City boss may have meant the comment light-heartedly.

However, Leeds fans feel that he shouldn’t have made such a statement before the season opener.

Leeds and Bristol City both have promotion hopes for the new campaign.

Leeds narrowly missed out on automatic promotion last term, while Bristol City almost made the play offs.

The clash between the two sides should offer a clue over how well set both sides are for the upcoming campaign.
