Leeds defender did not make last night’s Carabao Cup squad.

Leeds United fans were left disappointed by centre-back Pascal Struijk not even making last night’s Carabao Cup squad with Stoke.

Struijk has been the under-23s most consistent player throughout 2019, and last week travelled with the matchday squad for Leeds’ Championship game with Brentford.

He is yet to make his debut, and it had seemed that last night’s cup game was an ideal opportunity.

Instead he did not even make the substitutes bench.

Leeds did adopt a youthful approach, with both Alfie McCalmont and Mateusz Bogusz included in the starting line up.

Fellow youngster Leif Davis was given the nod in defence, so Struijk has to wait for his chance.

The former Ajax chance could get it, if injuries strike, he might be needed.

He isn’t far off, but fans feel this could have been an opportunity missed to get the prospect introduced to first team action.
