Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has had a terrific start to the season.
He has played a key role in the team’s unbeaten start in the Championship, continuing his form from last season.
Yesterday when the England squad was named, there were fans who felt Phillips was hard done by not to be involved.
England boss Gareth Southgate is not known for picking players from the Championship. So if Phillips was picked, it would have been a major surprise.
Even so, Phillips’ performances would mean that if he was picked, there would be very few eyebrows raised, it would be justifiable.
One supporter pointed out Tyrone Mings, who was playing in the Championship last season for Aston Villa, and after three games in the Premier League, has now been called into the squad.
All Phillips can do is keep up his form, and hope recognition will come his way.
If Leeds do win promotion, then there will be no holding him back…
