Middlesbrough lead the chase to sign Martin Braithwaite.
Earlier this year an innocuous Twitter post from Danish striker Martin Braithwaite led Leeds United fans to urge him to join the club.
Braithwaite spotted a peacock in his back garden, and sent a message out on social media asking Leeds if it was anything to do with them, owing to their old nickname.
Braithwaite was inundated with replies like this one – which even tagged in the then manager Garry Monk – urging him to sign the striker.
Now Monk is attempting to do exactly that.
French newspaper L’Equipe reports Garry Monk’s Middlesbrough have launched a bid to bring Braithwaite to Teesside.

Monk quit Leeds and took over as Middlesbrough last month, and attempted to hijack the Whites move for midfielder Mateusz Klich unsuccessfully.
Now he is hoping to lure Braithwaite on board, with L’Equipe reporting Middlesbrough are holding talks with the Danish international’s representatives.
Braithwaite scored 12 goals for Toulouse last season, and was linked by The Mirror earlier this week with moves to both Brighton and Bournemouth.
