Garry Monk’s assistant, Pep Clotet, has still not left Leeds United.

A large section of Leeds United fans believe that Pep Clotet is set to become their next manager.

Clotet worked as Garry Monk’s assistant last season, and earned widespread credit for the job he did.

The Spaniard recommended transfers for Monk, and was a leading influence on the training ground.

Monk resigned as Leeds boss last month, but Clotet has remained at Elland Road.

And Leeds fans believe that now Aitor Karanka has been ruled out as an option, Clotet is the most likely candidate to get the job.

Clotet has had experience of managing before, but he has never taken charge of a club of the stature of Leeds.

The 40-year-old has had jobs at Halmstad, Malaga B and Espanyol B, before linking up with Monk at Swansea.

At the moment Karanka still remains the favourite with the bookies, and is considered a 1/4 shot on SkyBet.
