Leeds United boss Paul Heckingbottom has only been handed a short-term contract at Elland Road.

Leeds United fans have been left concerned by the length of Paul Heckingbottom’s contract.

Heckingbottom was officially announced as Leeds’ latest manager earlier today.

The 40-year-old has taken over from Thomas Christiansen at Elland Road, in an attempt to end their poor form.

Leeds have slipped down into 10th place in the Championship table, with a 4-1 defeat to Cardiff City proving the final straw for Christiansen.

Leeds have had a habit of changing managers quickly in recent times, with the Yorkshire side now on their 10th permanent manager in the last seven years.

And Leeds fans feel that the fact that Heckingbottom has only been handed a deal until 2019, shows that they are thinking in the short-term again.

Leeds have tended to give their recent bosses short-term deals, so Heckingbottom’s contract is no different from the usual for a manager at Elland Road.

Heckingbottom’s objective at Leeds will be to get them promoted, but doing so this season will be a hugely tough challenge.

Leeds are currently eight points away from the play offs, and only a very successful end to the season will push them back into the top six.
