Leeds United want Fabiano Parisi but face a major battle to secure the Empoli left back with many clubs believed to be interested in him.
The Whites ended the summer transfer window without signing a new left back despite Junior Firpo’s injury in pre-season.
Firpo should be back from injury soon but Leeds will surely be in the market for another left back soon.
Pascal Struijk has filled in admirably but isn’t a natural left back by any stretch of the imagination whilst Firpo himself hasn’t exactly impressed.
Kai Wagner of Philadelphia Union is one name mentioned but another has now emerged over in Italy.
Leeds United want Fabiano Parisi
Agent Mario Giuffredi has now told Tuttomercatoweb that Leeds are one of the team interested in signing Empoli left back Fabiano Parisi.
Giuffredi claims that the final days of the summer window were ‘very hectic’ with plans chasing Parisi’s signature.
Leeds are one of the clubs believed to be interested with Atalanta, Torino, Fiorentina and Nice also in the race for Parisi.
Giuffredi and Empoli agreed to wait on any transfer but a January deal could be in the offing for Parisi, who is ‘of the highest standard’.
“Yes, the last few days of the market have been very hectic,” said Giuffredi. “I consider him a great team player, he can be the transfer man for January or for the summer. He is of the highest standard. He can aspire to important goals. We had many clubs, from Atalanta to Torino to Fiorentina, Leeds and Nice, also in agreement with Empoli we decided to wait,” he added.
Parisi, 21, had humble beginnings as he turned out for little-known Pro Irpinia and Vigor Perconti in Italy.
Benevento saw potential in Parisi but loaned him out to Avellino for a year before selling in 2019.
After shining with Avellino, Parisi was sold again, this time to Empoli back in 2020, and he has been shining ever since.
An Italy Under-21 international with five caps to his name, Parisi has recorded two goals and three assists in 53 outings for Empoli.
Parisi is understandably attracting major interest given that he is a natural left back with a huge future ahead of him.
Leeds may now fancy developing Parisi as competition for Firpo moving forward, but winning the race for his signature will not be easy in 2023.
