Leeds United are said to be interested in Derby County striker Matej Vydra this summer.

Even if Leeds United are unable to bring in Matej Vydra from Derby County this summer, reports in the Yorkshire Evening Post suggesting that the striker is on their radar should be encouraging for supporters at Elland Road.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claim that Leeds are trying to work on a deal for Vydra, who Derby are prepared to sell.

The Rams reportedly want £10 million for Vydra, so for Leeds to be interested proves that they do have ambition and money to spend this summer.

Whether Leeds will be able to get a deal over the line for the Czech Republic international remains to be seen, but this is the clearest indication yet that Andrea Radrizzani is planning to invest.

Leeds have sacked Paul Heckingbottom after a mediocre spell in charge, and already have been linked with some much more high profile managerial targets.

The links to Vydra also show a shift in transfer policy, as he is a player with a proven track record in the Championship.

And, all of a sudden, it appears that Leeds are finally showing the ambition of a genuine promotion contender, rather than shopping abroad for bargains.
