Leeds United sold Elia Caprile to Bari this summer and his agent has suggested that other clubs in Italy are already showing an interest in him.

Victor Orta has always been a fan of bringing young talent to Elland Road ever since arriving himself back in 2017.

Deals for the likes of Pascal Struijk, Illan Meslier, Lewis Bate, Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood have been positives for the Whites.

Others haven’t quite been able to make themselves first-team players at Elland Road and have moved on in search of senior action.

Leeds United sold Elia Caprile

One such player is goalkeeper Elia Caprile, who joined Leeds from Italian side Chievo Verona back in the January of 2020.

Caprile was sent out on loan last season as he made the move to Pro Patria in Italy’s third tier.

Caprile impressed enough there to attract interest from other clubs and Leeds accepted a permanent deal for him to join Bari.

The 21-year-old has started the season as Bari’s first-choice goalkeeper and he has kept two clean sheets whilst conceding six times in six games.

Caprile appears to be catching the eye in Serie B, starring for Bari alongside former Leeds striker Mirco Antenucci.

Caprile even made his first appearance for Italy’s Under-21 earlier this week, starting in the 1-1 draw against Japan.

Agent Graziano Battistini has now had his say on Caprile whilst speaking to Tuttobari.

Battistini suggested that playing regularly for Bari is giving Caprile ‘important visibility’ to other clubs, which wasn’t really possible at Leeds.

Battistini believes other clubs now realise Caprile’s quality and is urging the young goalkeeper to continue his focus and form moving forward.

Leeds will of course wish the best for Caprile even after his Elland Road exit, but will also hope that letting him go doesn’t come back to bite them.

Orta will have surely placed a sell-on clause into Caprile’s exit but seeing him become a star elsewhere would sting a little.
