Dick Schreuder was lined up to join Leeds United and the PEC Zwolle boss will now be delighted to have experienced a 13-0 win.

February was a pretty chaotic month for Leeds.

Jesse Marsch was sacked and whilst Javi Gracia ended up being appointed, it was only after a frantic search for a new boss.

Top targets like Marcelo Gallardo, Arne Slot and Andoni Iraola proved to be unavailable for Leeds.

Then there was a dalliance with Alfred Schreuder too though, after the Dutchman was spotted at Elland Road for Leeds against Manchester United.

Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reported that a deal was pretty much done but Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani changed his mind and scrapped the move.

That report even noted that Schreuder had planned to bring in his brother Dick Schreuder as his Leeds assistant.

PEC Zwolle were delighted as the deal collapsing meant they kept their manager – and he has now enjoyed a stunning win.

Dick Schreuder secures 13-0 win after Leeds United deal collapsed

Schreuder is currently in charge of PEC Zwolle in the second division of Dutch football.

Friday night saw PEC Zwolle host struggling Den Bosch and whilst Schreuder’s men were favourites, nobody expected a 13-0 thrashing.

Zwolle were 5-0 up inside 20 minutes and 7-0 up by half time.

The goals just kept coming and even with an 11-0 lead in the final stages, Zwolle still scored two more to take it to 13-0.

Former Everton striker Apostolos Vellios grabbed four of the goals as Zwolle showed absolutely no mercy.

Schreuder surely can’t have expected to ever experience a 13-0 league win in his managerial career.

Missing out on a Premier League move will have hurt, especially when a club as big as Leeds United wanted him, but he has truly made history with Zwolle this weekend.
