Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa says that he was at fault for his side’s defeat to Birmingham City.

Liam Cooper has told the Daily Mail that he disagrees with Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa’s admission that he got it wrong against Birmingham City.

Leeds were beaten for the first time under Bielsa’s stewardship at the weekend, as Birmingham won 2-1 at Elland Road.

The Whites just couldn’t get going in the contest, and Bielsa took responsibility for the loss afterwards.

The Argentine boss felt at fault for the defeat, as he got his team selection and tactics wrong.

But Cooper insists that Bielsa is being too hard on himself, as Leeds players need to take more responsibility for the loss.

“The manager might say he blames himself, but I don’t think that,” Cooper said. “As players, we have got to take it on the chin. We know this wasn’t good enough.

“There’s not a single team in this division who has the right to not be at it for as long as we were today, and we’ve learnt the hard way.”

Leeds fell 2-0 behind in the first half at Elland Road at the weekend, when Che Adams scored twice for the visitors.

Bielsa’s men did pull a goal back through Ezgjan Alioski late on, but it served as nothing more than a consolation.

Despite the defeat, Leeds are still sitting at the top of the Championship table.
