Leeds United want Basel winger Dan Ndoye and he has been hailed after being ranked as the second best winger in Swiss football.

The Daily Mail reported in December that Leeds have discussed making a move to sign Basel wide man Ndoye in January.

That came after The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath reported that three Premier League clubs were chasing Ndoye with a £25million release clause in his contract.

Ndoye, 22, has bagged four goals and four assists in 28 games for Basel this season.

Primarily a right-sided winger, Ndoye previously had a spell at Nice after breaking through with Lausanne-Sport, but returned to Switzerland in 2021.

Whether Leeds need Ndoye – or any other winger right now – is up for debate with the likes of Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville showing huge promise this season.

Still, Ndoye is a name to keep a close eye on with Victor Orta seemingly a big fan.

Swiss media rave about Leeds United target Dan Ndoye

Ndoye’s raw numbers may not be all that impressive but the Swiss media seem to absolutely love him.

Sport.ch have published their rankings of the top 10 wingers in Switzerland’s top flight this season.

Servette star Miroslav Stevanovic took top spot but Ndoye was ranked at number two.

They wrote that Ndoye’s ‘speed, agility and dribbling’ are everything you want to see from a winger.

It’s added that Ndoye has been fouled more than any other player in Switzerland’s top flight this term and praised his ability to create for teammates.

The final line of the write-up notes that Ndoye is still wanted by Premier League clubs, and that just proves how good he is – even if he isn’t number one.

That verdict on Ndoye is hugely exciting and may leave Leeds fans hoping for a January deal – even with Gnonto and Summerville shining.
